# DKIM

DKIM attaches a digital signature to messages. Receivers verify it with a public key published in DNS. It protects against in-transit tampering and helps DMARC alignment.

**Why it matters:** DKIM is usually the most reliable alignment path for modern ESPs and is required for serious sending programs.
