# SPF

SPF is a DNS TXT record that authorizes specific IPs or include domains to send mail for your domain. Receivers check it during SMTP. Overlong SPF records fail because of DNS lookup limits.

**Why it matters:** Without SPF (and aligned authentication), mailbox providers treat your mail as higher risk.
